After the very successful " The palace of illusions "- a retelling of Mahabharata through draupadi's point of view, Chitra banerjee divakaruni has now come up with the retelling of ramayan,albeit this time from the perspective of Sita.While I am not a fan of "the palace of illusions",the way the story was so poetically presented was extremely interesting.Hence I expected no less from Banerjee this time.And certainly this book has lived upto my expectations,even better than "TPOI".The book presents the ancient story in a very fresh manner and if someone is an Indian literature geek then I am sure he/she will definitely love this fresh perspective to Ramayan that has been presented brilliantly by the author.The story is basically based on the Valmiki Ramayan although there are tales from Bhagvat Puran,Jain Ramayan and other regional ramayan tellings as well which have been incorporated in the narrative.The story follows the life of Goddess Sita from he...

Plastic management:The need of the hour

 Plastic is perhaps the biggest evil the modern world is facing.Countries from all over the world take plethora of initiatives every year to address the issue of plastic waste however,the situation only gets aggravated with each passing year.According to a report published in 'NATURE'(2024),India has surpassed other countries to become the largest plastic emitting country in the world.The report further suggests that India is responsible for around one-fifth of global plastic emissions of around 9.3 million mt(metric tonnes) per year.What adds to the irony is the fact that India was supposed to emancipate itself of single use plastic by 2022 as announced by the honourable PM Narendra Modi back in 2018.Such a situation,if nothing else, definitely calls for introspection for our country as well as the countrymen.   Plastic management is too ubiquitous of a concept to require an explaination.It is the management of plastic waste so as to reduce its harmful effects on the environm...
